Slow pace of relief irks Balochistan Earthquake affected

QUETTA: The quake-hit survivors in most of the remote areas of the Awaran district of Balochistan still waiting for the relief to arrive even after a week of the catastrophe that had taken a heavy toll of life and those survived left without any shelter, food and drinking water, Geo News reported.

Awaran and Mashkay quake affected people complained of acute shortage of medicines for the injured, foodstuff, drinking water and other basic needs of life for all those who have lost their hearths and homes and no means to move out of the devastated areas. Besides, the survivors suffering from numerous diseases due to high unhygienic living condition in the areas.

While others complained of slow pace of the distribution of relief materials piled up at the district headquarter of Awaran. The said they were busy in removing the debris of their demolished houses on self-help basis as the government machinery lagged far behind the demanding urgency of the aggravating situation.

The government on the other hand claimed that relief goods made available in sufficient quantity being distributed among the quake affected persons despite handicapped by the insurgents attack on the doctors, paramedics and volunteers entering into the remote areas for relief purposes.
